Evolution of Human-Jurassic Age

Certainly we dwell no longer in the Jurassic Age where being Physically Fit has been the test for survival of the fittest. We need to leave back the time when we were under physical stress and evolve our thinking abilities beyond the horizons of time.

The thing that I am proposing here might be psychologically unacceptable at start but I am sure my facts are right in this context. We humans have been under a lot of physical challenge since history can recollect. The great Pyramids of Egypt and Taj Mahal of India didn’t spring to life with modern day technology.

However the awakening of this thought came to me when a bar brawl went bad and one of the victim was fatally injured. Alcohol once consumed can make a man go in many directions but straight. Fight started with the favorite team in a cricket game and ended with a person in hospital. This thought shook me and all my reasoning brain cells.

A typical Bar Brawl

We no longer live in an age where we crack rocks and train dinosaurs like Fred Flintstone to make our daily bread and wine and then cool off in a local bar. We are ‘civilised’ in our corporate culture and even at manufacturing sites compared to yesteryears. Thanks to the modern technological miracles, a press of a button in one continent can trigger a chain of actions in entirely different continent and work has become more fruitful.

Hence we are no longer labour bound as most of the activities have been taken care of. How about taking care of our mental advancements. There is human psychology that might study the depths of human mind and it’s adaptation of new thoughts. Albeit all the developments, there are still cases of rape, kidnapping, adultery, acid attacks and mugging. Blame poverty for one and corruption for another but where is a generalised reason.

This is the point where we fail to EVOLVE mentally. This clearly indicates even though we have surpassed our comfort physically we are not ready to change mentally. Blame one’s ‘Genetic’ and you make the entire debate looking like a spacegoat. Perhaps, if I could rest my arguments with Genes to be entirely at fault, However they are not.

There works a Greedy Algorithm by default in our minds that takes pleasure in actually explaining the entire situation i.e. we refusing to evolve mentally. We find alternates to make a simple understanding and hence do not push our brain cells to think beyond our “Comfort Thinking Zone”. If we do fall in a situation of mental complexity we tend to Google, call someone else who understands better and or give up and move away. Somehow we have closed our minds to thinking that everything that happens is routine and is no brainer activity, in short we are Lazy thinkers.

Greedy algorithms determine the minimum number of coins to give while making change. These are the steps a human would take to emulate a greedy algorithm to represent 36 cents using only coins with values {1, 5, 10, 20}. The coin of the highest value, less than the remaining change owed, is the local optimum.

This is the reason when any thing that plays with our thoughts and fantasies comes across as a mental orgasm, for example: Sherlock holmes thinking to solve a case or spontaneous flirting with a stranger online.

The only solution to Evolve mentally is try and stop the ‘Greedy Algorithm’ at play and work around reasoning and questioning of everything. Time consuming process but are we ready to take the risk or be as primitive in thoughts as our ancestors were?

Music – An Escape Route

Guess the commonality between a party and a heartbreaking moment, a 6:00 am cardio session or a midnight sleep crisis. Just plug your headphones in your ears and you are lost in transit. You enter a world you have imagined to be your ‘Escape Route’. Your mind dwells on this idea and takes you exactly where you want to be.

There are scientific studies that show the brain activity heightened when a coma patient is given a Music/Sound treatment. Moreover a sound can actually be responsible enough to make anyone nostalgic. For example, long time before on a Radio Show on a rainy day, I heard some beautiful words … ‘roll the dice and swear your love for me.’ The words were stuck in my head for a very long time but eventually I had given on them as I didn’t recall the tune. Years later, a good friend introduced me to them randomly playing his iPod list. I was amazed, I took me nanoseconds to react and ask the songwriter to download it for myself. The song was ‘Dice – Finley Quaye’

You can listen to this track on Youtube (Dice – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOiDfY3i8Ac) A very romactic song I warn you.

Music is exactly what everyone needs to escape reality. A strong tune like ‘Celebrate the day – Herbert Gronemeyer’ or ‘Hall of fame – The Script’ before hitting the gym, A soulful tune ‘Sandi Thom- I wish I were a punk rocker’  or ‘James blunt – Wisemen’ after gym to cool down. Getting up in the morning to the twisted mixes ‘Gorillaz – Feel good inc.’ or ‘The Alphabet – David Guetta’ kicks stronger than a cup of coffee or a hot breakfast.

The deal with music is, It knows no bounds. Music doesn’t care you are rich or poor. It doesn’t care you own a Ginomous i-Pod or a simple FM. You don’t have to be pretty or beautiful. Music is inviting and warm. You  have to indulge in it 100% and it guarantees a way out, trust me on that.

Our society draws line on social interaction based ‘Music’ just like Religion. I am shocked to see some college chaps with long  jersey’s and the weird hairdos,  the Hip Hop shoes and neck pendants called ‘Bling’. These were self proclaimed ‘Cool Ones’ discussing the dope rap mix by Eminem on top of their voice and the SWAG it carried. Entry to this group is the acceptance to the attire and also you need to be sane after you listen to all kind of Rap music. Pretending to be Cool on the basis of Music should not be bifurcating at all. Music was always about sharing the funkiest tracks and dancing like 5 year olds to Govinda’s Jhatkas and Matkas.

Lana Del Rey – Blues

Music brings the best in us. I know a lot of my peeps googling out different tracks and sharing the fun together. The saying, “DJ, surprise us with your mix” should be prevalent forever. Share the Care with Music. My best of mates have remained together not because what we listen together and out everyone else but what we share differently with each other and enjoy it.

Here is what I am currently digging, thanks to all my friends:

10) Katy Perry and Kanye West – ET

9) One Republic Feat. Timbaland- Apologize

8) Adele – Someone like you

7) Rihanna Feat Mikky Ekko – Stay

6) Madonna feat JT – 4 Minutes

5) Fake it – Seether

4) JBM – Winter Ghost

3) Led Zeppelin –  stairway to heaven

2) Carnival of Rust – Poets of the Fall

1) Linkin Park – Bleed it out

Well this list is not all conclusive unless the tracks from Rasmus, P.Diddy, Kelly Clarkson,  Britney Spears, Nina Simone, Maroon 5, Missy Elliot, James Blunt and many more Brilliant performers find a spot on it. But I think every performer has a season association in mind. As I said earlier, A nostalgic impact listening to the tunes can make you break a sweat in your thoughts amidst chilly winters.

So Go on, put on some music and let the MAGIC happen to you.

Inner Intervention is the Need of the Hour.

Sometimes you don’t have anything on your mind and sometimes you want every crap to be out. Sometimes you get carried away by something and others hardly pay attention. But most of the time things that sooth our souls and give us reason to be happy are just a thought of someone else’s picture. We struggle our asses everyday to look like that, be like that and finally to live like that and when we are tired we start to compromise on anything that is second best. Indulge in affairs that we aren’t and meet with our end.

We humans are flawed to the crescendo  of our heartbeat. If one has to ask a religious preacher or a future teller, “What shall be the reason of my death?” then I assume one needs to go NO far than his nose distance. You might wonder what and where is this blog post taking you, well people fasten up your seat belts and get ready for a roller coaster ride. We might dig a little deeper and have an inner Intervention.

Let’s roll it from the top. During the kids phase, the only life we enjoy is a high raised bench -‘ Kids climb up and jump down’, They do it again and again. Seeing one the rest of the pack follows. Now once they are tired they might hit a break but we still would give it another shot. At that point of time, the concept of LIFE revolves around two things – the high raised bench and how free spirited they are. Don’t get carried away with the innocent foolishness kids are up to.

As we age we are now in completely different phase. We believe living up like a Pop star/celebrity life is the ultimate life. People dream of the fun of  unending parties and “If it is on TV, then it must be true” syndrome. Well what about the high raised benches in past and the free spirit living. True that all jobs in world don’t make you own palaces but then you don’t need more than a meter or two land to sleep and refresh yourself for tomorrow.

This thinking has led many motivated youngsters to just be more and more Self Centered. All they think of is ‘I should be pretty, I should be the one with maximum friends, I should be the one with most money to splurge around and I should be the one to have maximum girls or boys to my disposal’.  Well this is a reason there are more than 20,000 people who everyday land up in Mumbai, Capital of Bollywood just to be the Next Big Thing.

We now lack human values. The first thing when we spot an accident is not the idea to help the victim but to remove our phones and take a video to post online as this is going to upgrade the ‘cool’ status. We are more depressed now then our forefathers. Group Drinking, smoking, shop till you drop, casual relationships and getting high once or twice were not the labels used to describe our ancestors but have been created to fill the present generation in classification society.

Well you might call this BAD but trust me this is not bad. Infact this is opposite of Bad. This is really important. The key here is every individual is a ticking time bomb. This bomb is preserved till his actions do not over power his mind. Once that is done the actions turn into habits and habits turn into destructive behaviours not only of self but of others too. Well this is the key to exit. It’s your cue to understand that these things don’t just happen but I believe if there exist a higher power he makes everyone with a flaw and that flaw then ends the person.

Hence understand what is that BAD in you. Work on it, take guidance, talk to people around you, write it down, distract your mind from it and try not to let it overpower you. Rich and famous are even Gangsters and Dons but the end they receive by a single bullet to their head is still better than a tortured life you would like to lead. Say NO to other’s picture of perfection and create something that is YOU.

Epiphany of Endless Reading Writing

It has been a while since I penned my thoughts around any news or even an event yeah…. Everything has been just boiled down to nought, thanks to social media.

Mornings used to be fun. Getting up to a fresh cup of tea and a morning daily to decode the madness in and around the world. Then would be the time to discuss the important topics over the breakfast table with my family and friends who much keenly appreciated the talks. I know I know…It sound like a perfect family scenario or rather a recipe of Fiasco. However my point being, People read newspapers and talked about the happenings.

I used to get my fair share of information from our Doodh wala (Milkman) about increasing Chara (Fodder) prices, then the Dobhi (laundry service personnel) about the increasing rates of soap and electricity and finally by Mom, who denied every chocolate in the world just to remind me the Increasing cost of FMCG and interest rates.

Now now, No raised brows please. I meant people do read these days. In fact everyone is now either reading or writing. Yes, reading other people’s messages or status updates or updating their own. In past I sure hell didn’t own a phone but still knew where all my friends were and today I am still clueless about my 700+ friends on a leading social networking site.

Everyone is either sharing facts, places they have been to along with a +1, Things they think are funny, his/her dreams or most importantly an image with mostly a caption ‘Aww’. Now I wouldn’t deny liking some of these status but let me tell you the thing behind it, if you don’t like it then it means you are no longer my friend online and physically ending any relationship that existed.

What I meant was the sheer grief to read something new now only persist in Books and to some magnitude blogs. The daily papers print all the important news day after it is already published on e-paper and much before that it is waved in through connectivity applications. That means you read the same information/News almost like couple of times and by couple I meant hundreds of time. For example: The latest news I laughed my guts out that floated across on Whatsapp. (thanks Hiten Raja for lovely collaboration of facts)

Now as soon as I received it, I passed it over to 50 of my friends and some 5-10 random groups I am a member of. Now think of this, If genuinely all 50 of my friends send to 50 of their friends and so on and so forth the message goes viral but the chances are you recieve the message 50 times back. So with one share of numbers you expect the same to be back in your inbox.

Now this same message was visible also on Facebook by my 200 active friends (a lower count of 700 friends I have. 500 rest don’t think they are interested in talking on Facebook or sharing stuff. They have remain dormant since I accepted their request or vice versa.) plus the hundred of pages that you have liked that share the same message over and over and OVER again. Now add + /- 200 to the above +/- 50 and you are viewing this message at least 150 – 250 times a day. Well, I think with number this huge I would rather remain dormant to even 200 active friends and curse the page admin to share the information again.

However this is happening. We are writing and reading and now we are in endless loop. people don’t see anything new but share what is already shared and read what is already read. I do blame myself to an extent for being a part of the loop but the bigger problem is ‘Everybody Shares.’ and this is what makes a news out of your views in second.

Think about this, your favorite IPL series is in it’s final stage and you are watching it peacefully minding your own business and being discreet about it. Suddenly there is a six and everybody is just so exhilarated (I think in this case more than the batsman) and the next step is you update your twitter status and facebook status. Now think about a person who is reading your tweets. He is happy that you are into the game and you feeling the edge-of-the-seat sensation but if you follow 400 people (average) on twitter including sports networks the chances are you read the message more than 50 times (I mean the same message of ‘There goes another 6…Yayy’ and also a formal connotation tweet done by leading sports website) Now you scroll and scroll till you reach a point and find another interesting tweet or you are out of twitter in no time. This is where you also count fools who tweet twice or thrice and think…’Yeh saala itna kyun kush ho raha hai’.

Point being, you read the redundant stuff and you are ‘OK’ with that. Similar goes for new season episode of Games of thrones, with first rain, Sanjay Dutt off to jail, Young Jiah Khan commits suicide (May she RIP) but after a time you give up on your enthusiasm. It’s like reading the same newspaper over and over for more than 50 times in a day.

A study shows that if you don’t do 5 kinds of different activities in a day, by the age of 50 your brain will rot. (Well understand the rotting of Indian Political System, if you know what I mean) but where have those days gone, when we played games with friends, took part in charities (and not just to post an image online), danced till our feet ached and laughed so hard that it went all silent & tears start rolling down. What about the Meditation and Yoga centers. How about giving everything a toss for a day just to be with your old school friend and re thinking what bizarre we were. Cooking, cleaning and even theater with family.

I guess the greatest of all the gift, ‘Connectivity’ is probably failing to connect us with roots we were nurtured. A 16 year old girl is more terrified to look bad in a Facebook display picture than flunking in her exams. For that she can shop till she drops and have no time to study. Well if you study then you are the ‘Geek’ of Nerdland.

The habits we have adopted just to be a part of fancy-shamcy connection process is proving fatal to our very own existence. Frankly have a conversation with yourself. A like or a comment of a poor child not fed and looks awfully skinny image on facebook, how can it help him on facebook. Giving all kinds of bad words to a sports player caught for spot fixing on facebook will not change what he has done. This reminds us we are lacking to think in future and act in present. Now we live in present and condemn/appreciate what is past.

Plus to write such a blog read books. Books by great authors and people that actually mattered in past. They didn’t copy pasted the materials or pressed share buttons but have analysed concepts and proven theories. I just happened to finish an interesting short book of only 40 pages but it was worth a read. My mind had an orgasm towards the thought process of understanding new words, language and views. I am not a big time reader but I surely don’t want to give up reading just to make time to enter a virtual world of redundant readers and mindless sharers.
