When Technology meets Life @ Nokiaapptasting Event by Indiblogger.com

You might be wondering what am I referring to, from the topic “When Technology meets Life”. Well, let me tell you why I would refrain to consider any mobile phone application of any worth after I met Nokia Pureview. I attended this session, where the brand Nokia known for it’s cult history in mobile phones was about to reveal some of the best mobile phone applications in the market. The very human Inquisitive nature crept in me and I decided to finally present myself with one it’s kind event I had ever attended. The Sunday night at the very majestic Taj Lands End at Bandstand, bandra was a perfect venue for some thing this exotic to tickle your technological bone and believe me when I say this but as the night grew, so was the evening getting ready for a bridal experience.

A well planned Event by Indiblogger team(@indiblogger) awaited our presence and to add more, two very entertaining host: Rajiv makhani (@RajivMakhni), Tech guru and Vikas Khanna (@VikasKhanna1), the celebrity chef were on their toes to make it an entertainment bonanza. Finally, the cue for the curtains to unveil the beautiful Nokia Pureview was in and I was amazed with the applications which were ‘Bazonga zonga’, a self coined word for the lack of a better word than ‘BEST’

Now, Let me come back to my title again. As I said earlier, ‘When Technology meets Life’, I wasn’t kidding. You might think when was technology not a part of Human life. In fact we have been born and brought up in the era of Gizmos and gadgets. Albeit all the technology that has been invented till date, I can now vouch for the best mobile phone applications witnessed were during the #Nokiaapptasting event and to support this prodigy of inventions, Nokia came up with the ‘Bazonga zonga’ Phone- Pureview.

I had many applications running in my mind which were at display during the event such as ‘The Red Eye Corrector’ and ‘Menu Selector’ but on my way back home one application kept repeating itself in my mind- Nokia Virtual Map. This application enables you to stand in the room with your phone towards the wall and from the direction where you point, the maps tell you exactly what is the next geographic location behind the walls along with estimated coordinates. Now that’s dope. I mean seriously, stand in your house and tell me how far is the next Girl’s hostel or your girlfriend’s building (minus the daddy figure in the house). Just point your phone in that direction. This application could be used for innovative purposes like The  Defense of Indian Borders. Think of it in this way, we would practically win all the combats even before there would be any movements from the Enemy base knowing where they are geographically located just standing at our own base. Keep up the good work, Nokia.

Well That’s from my end. I hope you I was able to create that sense of jealousy when you don’t have such advance technology in your pockets and you would really like to me it some day.

Impact: from 0 to100 in seconds: The new corporate mantra for “Growth”.

It is always difficult for a marketer to find out new ways to market his products. The competitive marketing strategies for both promotions and sales have left no window for new products to emerge and climb the podium of success. Hence the demand of the product only exist until it meets your eyes everyday. What should a marketer do in case he wishes to be different and wants to create an impact in small amount of time? Well here are few ideas that any corporate can undertake and jump from a position of having nothing to being the most popular one. Check them out:

1) Blue Ocean Strategy: A very old chapter from Strategic Management books, this strategy talks about creating your own space. It says,’ high growth and profits of an organization can be generate by creating new demand in an uncontested market space, or a “Blue Ocean”, rather than by competing head-to-head with other suppliers for known customers in an existing industry, or a “Red Ocean”.’ Hence start thinking to target a new set of customers with new demands and growth potential in future. For example, Maruti Ertiga targets LUV- Lifestyle Utility Vehicle segment which is way different than SUV or MUV.

2) Digital is the new way: The novelty appeal to stay in touch with your target audience is to go digital. It is observed that most of the target audience of any particular brand spends 3 quarters of it’s time on the Internet and prefer staying social. Hence don’t chop off your only way to engaging with this potential buyer segment by staying away from Internet. Moreover the dying culture of television advertisements guarantees no returns on the capital employed but on digital platforms, Everything is measurable.

3) Customer Service is the Game: You have an excellent product line and to top it off the best way to promote it, albeit all the efforts if the Service department of your company doesn’t deliver; you are Dead. The major companies in India have trouble keeping the customers happy. It takes a lot of investments and time to build certain sect of target audience but with poor service they slip away. Hence notch up your game as the ‘Service’ is now officially included after the 4P’s of marketing and is quite a hot debate in declining industrial growth.

4) Be public, be noticed: Be ready to be noticed in public with every chance you get. This activity can surely turn some heads and make your product from crap to cash cow. For instance the promotional activity during a sporting event that is enjoyed by all sectors of society has a deep impact. The construction giants DLF and Maxx mobiles during IPL events sent a clear message to audience. The result of which the sales sky rocketed for both the companies. Hence promotional events during public get together is a sure shot way to go up.
